Lets talk about hair and baldness for a second. Hair is the accessory that we wear every day, it is seen from every angle and it’s NOT easily replaced. We do a lot to are hair like cutting it, dying it, brushing it, combing it and scrubbing it. In actual fact we are so rough with our hair basically torture it on a daily basis. This is because are hair has no sensory nerve endings, so it’s painless. Imagine if we could feel what we do to are hair. I know I wouldn’t be getting haircuts, I’d be a lot more careful when I toss it around, id brush it more tenderly and shampoo it less often, I’d never dye it and I’d never scorch it with a hairdryer or a curling iron either.
It is very important not to shampoo your hair every day if you over-zelously clean your scalp, you will trigger your hair to produce more oil to compensate … gaining more oily hair in the long run but you will also have dry hair on top of that.
So if you feel as though you have an oily scalp and dry hair you might consider only washing your hair every second or third day. Also consider putting conditioner at the ends of your hair before shampooing. Shampoo your scalp by gently massaging it in ONLY the scalp, and rinse the lather through the rest of your hair ,protected by the conditioner.
My favorite shampoo to use on my hair is the Miessence dessert flower shampoo. Extremely mild, the dessert flower shampoo cleanses with yucca juice and coco glucoside while pro vitamin B5 nourishes and moisturizes hair. Organic avocado oil restores luster and hydrates dry and damaged ends, while herbs add sheen and body.
If you have been using chemical shampoos and your switching to organic shampoo you will experience a hair detox for several weeks if you’ve been using hair products with silicone derivatives. Your hair may feel knottier and dryer than usual during this detox period. Be assured, hair condition will improve as these artificial chemicals are removed from your hair. To help with this process, we recommend Clarifying Hair Rinse to assist with stripping your hair of chemical residue and Protect Hair Repair will help to detangle and smooth your hair.
You might think that to get rid of dandruff you need to wash your hair daily but generally dandruff is associated with a fungal process, so all the cleaning in the world will not get rid of it. Instead, you need to soften and remove all the flakes. And then put an anti- fungal remedy on your scalp.
Here is my remedy
- Before showering massage some coconut oil into your scalp with the pads of your fingertips. Be generous and really coat the scalp.
- Shampoo out with the lemon myrtle shampoo (specifically formulated to remove excess oils from the scalp)
- Follow with the miessence clarifying hair rinse, which uses the anti-fungal properties of apple cider vinegar to keep dandruff from returning. As an added treatment , you can use tea tree oil sparsely on the scalp.
- Repeat this intensive anti-dandruff routine every week or two until dandruff is gone.
In most cases thinning hair is usually genetic. There’s not much you can do about that unless you want to try chemical preparations of Rogaine. I strongly recommend that you don’t do this because it’s not only toxic but it will enter your systemic system though the scalp(affecting heart, kidney, and lung!). They will make you use this treatment for up to a year before seeing results but it barley works. It may cause a slight amount of super fine Downey hair to grow, which only falls out several weeks later.
Instead you should encourage healthy circulation to the scalp and take very good care of the hair you do have. The best way to stimulate great blood flow to your scalp is to give yourself a weekly scalp massage. It will also strengthen your active hair follicles and it will also remove any dead skin cell build up, keeping follicles unclogged.
- Gently massage your scalp with coconut oil
- After massaging for a minute or two follow with the Miessence dessert flower shampoo and condition as well.
- When combing out wet hair or brushing dry hair be very gentle and apply little to no pressure
If you really want to treat your hair every week or two you can pre condition with coconut oil and once again just massage the coconut oil into your scalp and shampoo out. If you find your hair is still a little greasy after the first wash give it another shampoo, I find once is enough for me.
For daily conditioning nothing beats the Miessence shine herbal conditioner. It combines the hydration, conditioning and protection properties of olive oil and nourishing moringa seed oil from Tanzania with pro-vitamins B5 and organic herbs to promote lustre and body. This conditioner also balances pH with organic apple cider vinegar.
